Second year head coach Jim Barnes and the University of Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team will open up with their first practice of the 2003 pre-season on Sunday, August 10th at 3:00 p.m., in the MPG. Barnes welcomes back all six starters and 12 letterwinners from the 2002 squad.
"With all of the returning players and a year under our belt, we have really developed a winning attitude," said head coach Jim Barnes. "Everyone is extremely focused, which will be a big part of our success, and our teamwork will help get us up to the top of the Mountain West."
Coach Barnes and a few Cowgirl players will be available at media day from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m., on Friday, August 8. The Cowgirls' first practice will begin on Sunday afternoon from 3:00-6:00. Regular weekday practices will continue on Monday with a practice from 9:00 a.m. to noon and an additional practice from 3:00-6:00 p.m. All practices are open. The Cowgirls, who finished 20-11 overall and 5-9 in the Mountain West Conference, will open up the 2003 volleyball season on the road at the Baylor Classic, Friday and Saturday August 29-30 in Waco, Texas, with matches against Baylor, Houston and Ole Miss. They will host their first matches at the Cowgirl Classic, Friday and Saturday Sept. 5-6, against Sam Houston State, San Jose State and Weber State.
