Cowgirl Volleyball Team Begins Practice Friday

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The University of Wyoming CowgirlVolleyball Team and head coach Susan Steadman will officially open upfall drills for the upcoming season on Friday, August 10th.

The Cowgirls will have their first practice on Friday morning from9-10:45 a.m., and then in the afternoon from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Bothpractices will take place in the MultiPurpose Gym. Head coach SusanSteadman, who is entering her sixth season at UW, is excited about theupcoming season.

"I am extremely anxious to start practice," said Steadman. "It's a timewhen the upperclassmen see the fruits of their labor and investment intothe program. I'm also excited to see what our newcomers will add to theprogram."

Wyoming returns four starters and eight letterwinners from last year'steam that went 10-22 overall and 2-12 in the conference. They alsowelcome six newcomers to this year's squad.

The Cowgirls will open up the 2001 season on the road at the GoldenGate Classic, in San Francisco, Calif., on August 31 and Sept. 1. Theywill play their first home matches on Sept. 7-8, when they host theCowgirl Classic, in Laramie. The Cowgirls schedule includes six homenon-conference matches and seven conference match-ups.
