Cowgirl Volleyball Set To Begin Pre-Season Practice

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

First year head coach Jim Barnes andthe University of Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team will open up with theirfirst practice of the 2002 pre-season on Saturday, August 10th at 8:30a.m., in the MPG. Barnes welcomes back four starters and sevenletterwinners from last year's squad.

"This young group of kids is going to be a fun and energetic group tocoach and an even more exciting team to watch," said Barnes. "There willbe plenty of growing pains because of their inexperience, but they willcertainly make up for it in teamwork."

The Cowgirls' first practice will begin on Saturday morning from8:30-11:00, with an additional practice from 2:30-6:00 p.m. Coach Barnesand a few Cowgirl players will also be available at media day from 11:00a.m. to noon that same day. They will continue on Sunday with just onepractice at 2:00 p.m. All practices are open.

The Cowgirls' will open up the 2002 volleyball season on the road atthe Chippewa Classic, Friday and Saturday in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., withmatches against Central Michigan, Marquette and Cleveland State. Theywill host their first match at home against the Denver Pioneers, onTues., Sept. 3, at 7:00 p.m. in the MPG.
