COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming Cowgirls senior outside hitter Jodi Purdy was named Mountain West Women's volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 10-16, the conference office announced Monday. It is Purdy's fourth honor of her career and the third-consecutive season she has earned the honor.
The Winterset, Iowa, native led Wyoming volleyball to a 2-1 record at the Ball State Tournament last weekend in Muncie, Ind. The Cowgirls swept both Wright State and Pittsburgh 3-0 for their seventh and eighth straight-set victories of the season. Wyoming fell to Ball State, 3-1, in the championship match. She recorded back-to-back double-double matches against Wright State (14 kills and 11 digs) and Pittsburgh (10 kills and 13 digs). Against Wright State, Purdy hit a season-high .407 (14-3-27). Her 14 kills against Wright State and Ball State is also season-high in three-and four-set matches, respectively. She recorded 17.5 points against Ball State which is a season-high for overall matches. On the weekend, Purdy averaged 3.80 kills, 2.90 digs and 0.90 blocks per set, while hitting .315. She averaged 4.70 points per set over the 10 total sets. Her performance also earned her all-tournament honors.
