In their only match of the week, the Wyoming volleyball team will continue Mountain West Conference play on the road. They will travel to Ft. Collins, Colo. to face the Colorado State Rams, on Friday night, at 7:00 p.m.
The Cowgirls come into this match with 5-6 overall mark and a 0-2 record in the conference. They are currently led by sophomore outside hitter Rachel Smith, who is averaging 3.51 kills and 2.14 digs per game. She is followed closely by Andrea Seele who is hitting .223 (77-36-184) on the year while adding 2.14 kills per game. As a team, Wyoming is first in the conference in digs with 584 (15.37 dpg) and second in service aces with 81 (2.13 sapg).
The Rams are currently 8-3 overall and 2-0 in MWC play. They are led by Tess Rogers who is averaging 3.79 kills per game and hitting .228, along with Dre Downs who is averaging 2.95 kills and 1.55 blocks per game. They return three starters and five letterwinners to a squad that went 26-4 overall and 13-1 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago. This is the 58th meeting between the two teams. CSU leads 39-18 and has won the last 14 meetings. The last time the two teams met was Nov. 5, 2004 when the Rams defeated the Cowgirls 3-0 in Laramie. Colorado State is coached by Tom Hilbert, who is in his ninth season with the program.
