Cowgirl Volleyball Heads Out On The Road In Conference Play

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The Wyoming volleyball team will hit the road this week as they continue Mountain West Conference play. They will travel to San Diego, Calif. to face the Aztecs, on Friday night, at 8:00 p.m. MT, and then the UNLV Rebels, on Sunday afternoon, at 2:00 p.m. MT.

With a 2-0 record over the weekend, the Cowgirls come into this week's matches with a 7-5 overall mark and a 2-0 record in the conference. As a team, they are out hitting opponents .283 to .225, which is second in the Mountain West Conference.

The Aztecs enter the week with a record of 0-13 record overall and 0-1 in the MWC. SDSU is currently hitting .128 (550-343-1618) per match and averaging 2.53 blocks per contest. They are led by Kara Moriarty, who is averaging 3.88 kills and 2.38 digs per game.

This will be the 27th meeting between the two schools as the Aztecs lead the series 23-3. The last time the two teams met was Nov. 1, 2003 in San Diego when the Aztecs defeated the Cowgirls, 3-0.

The Rebels are 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the MWC entering this week's match and will face Colorado State on Thursday night. UNLV is currently hitting .192 (644-302-1178) per match and averaging 16.10 kills as a team. They are led by Maria Aladjova who is averaging 3.95 kills per game and has a .232 (158-60-422) hitting percentage.

This will be the 17th meeting between the two schools as Wyoming leads the series 9-7. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 30, 2003 with the Rebels coming out on top with a 3-0 victory in Las Vegas.
