The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team will only play one match this week as they travel down to Colorado Springs to take on the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Saturday, October 4. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
Wyoming enters the week with a 2-10 (.167) record overall and a 1-2 mark in Mountain West Conference play after losing a five set heartbreaker last Friday night against Colorado State. The Cowgirls are currently led by outside hitter Dani Bedore who is averaging 2.91 kills, which is tenth in the MWC, and 1.51 digs per set. She is followed Lauren Whitney who is adding 2.72 kills and almost one dig per set. As a team, they are averaging 11.83 kills and 12.15 digs per set.
The Falcons enter the week with a 4-12 overall mark and 0-5 in MWC play after a three set loss to Colorado State on Thursday night. They are led by Jasamine Pettie, who is averaging 2.52 kills per set and has 28 total blocks, while Nichole Stilwell is adding 2.08 kills and 31 total blocks. Air Force returns five starters and 16 letterwinners that went 7-24 overall and 0-16 in the in the MWC a year ago. This is the 27th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 21-5. The last time the two teams met was November 16, 2007 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons, 3-0, in Laramie. Air Force is coached by Penny Lucas White who is in her 13th season with the program.
