In their only match of the week, the Wyoming volleyball team will travel to Greeley, Colo. to take on the Northern Colorado Bears, on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m.
Wyoming enters the week with an 8-10 (.444) record and 2-6 in conference play after begin swept by BYU and Utah last week at home. The Cowgirls are currently led by junior outside hitter Rachel Smith, who is averaging 3.84 kills, which is fourth in the MWC, and 1.91 digs per game. She is followed closely by freshman Annie Meyers who is averaging 3.09 kills and 2.81 digs on the year. As a team, they are averaging 13.92 kills, 15.56 digs and have a .185 (988-455-2887) hitting percentage.
The Bears are currently 9-9 overall and 6-3 in the Big Sky Conference. UNC is led by Dulcie Stone who is averaging 2.76 kills and 3.13 dpg game along with Lizzy Rhoads with 2.49 kills and 1.03 blocks per game. They return three starters and nine letterwinners to a squad that went 14-16 overall a year ago. This is the 15th meeting between the two teams. Northern Colorado leads the series 8-6 and has won the last two meetings. The last time the two teams met was Sept. 3, 2005 as the Bears defeated the Cowgirls 3-2 in Laramie. Northern Colorado is coached by Lyndsey Benson who is in her second season with the program.
