The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team returns to the UniWyo Sports Complex this week for two of their final three home matches. They will take on the UNLV Rebels, on Thursday, October 27, and the San Diego State Aztecs, on Saturday, Oct. 29. Both matches are set for 7:00 p.m. Live stats of the matches can be followed on www.wyomingathletics.com.

The Cowgirls enter the week with a 15-9 (.625) record overall and a 5-4 (.556) mark in the Mountain West after a split against Air Force and Boise State last time out. Wyoming is currently led by Jodi Purdy who is averaging a team high 3.66 kills and 4.34 points plus 3.18 digs per set. She ranks third in kills and points, fourth in service aces and eighth in digs in the league. She is followed by redshirt freshman Erin Kirby who is adding 1.89 kills and 1.16 blocks, along with hitting .340 (166-43-362). Reese Plante is averaging 2.03 kills and 1.10 blocks, while Becky Stewart is leading the way with 3.74 digs per set. As a team, they are averaging 13.12 kills, 14.14 digs and 2.44 blocks per set. They rank second in blocks and hitting percentage and fourth in digs and kills.

Wyoming will begin the week against the UNLV Rebels, on Thursday, Oct. 27. The Rebels are 11-11 overall and 3-5 in the MW. They are led by Sekola Falemaka who is averaging 2.15 kills and 2.75 digs per set. UNLV returns four starters and six letterwinners who went 10-20 overall and 5-11 in the Mountain West a year ago.

This is 35th meeting between the two schools. UNLV leads the series 20-14. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 1, 2011 as the Cowgirls defeated the Rebels 3-2 in Las Vegas. UNLV is coached by Cindy Fredrick who is in her first year.

The Cowgirls close out the week against the San Diego State Aztecs, on Saturday, Oct. 29. The Aztecs are currently 13-6 overall and 6-2 in the Mountain West. They are led by Andrea Hannasch who is averaging 2.97 kills and 1.21 blocks per set. San Diego State returns five starters and ten letterwinners to a team that went 16-16 overall and 8-8 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago.

This is the 42nd meeting between the two schools. SDSU leads the series 31-10. The last time the two teams met was Sept. 29, 2011 as the Aztecs defeated the Cowgirls, 3-0, in San Diego. SDSU is coached by Deitre Collins Parker who is in her third season with the program.
