Cowgirl Volleyball Set To Host San Diego State and UNLV

The Wyoming volleyball team will welcome the UNLV Rebels, on Friday night, and the San Diego State Aztecs, on Saturday night. Both matches are set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the MPG.

With a 2-0 record over last weekend, the Cowgirls come into this week's matches with a 12-9 overall mark and a 5-4 record in the conference. Wyoming is led by senior Sara Maytorena, who is averaging a team leading 3.64 kills, along with 2.21 digs per game. As a team, they are averaging 15.37 kills and 13.30 digs per game, while out hitting their opponents .264 to .234.

The Rebels are 11-7 overall and 5-3 in the MWC entering this week's match just ahead of the Cowgirls in the Mountain West. UNLV is currently hitting .203 (1052-484-2799) per match and averaging 15.94 kills per game as a team. They are led by Maria Aladjova who is averaging an outstanding 4.05 kills per game and has a .249 (267-96-686) hitting percentage.

This will be the 18th meeting between the two schools as Wyoming leads the series 9-8. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 3, 2004 with the Rebels coming out on top with a 3-2 victory in Las Vegas.

The Aztecs enter the week with a record of 3-18 record overall and 3-5 in the MWC and will face Colorado State on Friday night. SDSU is currently hitting .161 (915-509-2520) per match and averaging 2.63 blocks per contest. They are led by Kara Moriarty, who is averaging a team leading 3.56 kills along with two digs per game.

This will be the 28th meeting between the two schools as the Aztecs lead the series 24-3. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 1, 2004 in San Diego when the Aztecs defeated the Cowgirls, 3-1.
