The University of Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team (18-5 overall, 7-3 Mountain West) opens a two-week road swing this weekend with matches at UNLV (19-5, 7-2 MW) and San Diego State (10-10, 5-4 MW). The Cowgirls head to Las Vegas to take on the Rebels on Thursday at 7 p.m. MT. UW heads to SDSU for a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. in San Diego.

UW comes into the week winners of five-straight MW matches, the second-longest MW winning streak in Cowgirl volleyball history. The NCAA released its weekly RPI rankings Monday with the Cowgirls coming in at No .56, the second-highest MW team behind No. 14 Colorado State.

Wyoming had a strong week last weekend defeating Utah State in four sets and Boise State in five sets. Senior Erin Kirby led Wyoming hitting .578 with 30 kills. Sophomore Laura Beach also had quite the weekend adding 30 kills and 17 total blocks. She recorded her first career double-double with 16 kills and 10 blocks against Utah State.

About UNLV: The Rebels head into Thursday's match with a 19-5 overall record and a 7-2 mark in the MW. The Rebels went 2-0 last week with wins over San Diego State and Fresno State. The Rebels are fourth in the MW in hitting percentage at .248 (1063-368-2807). UNLV is fifth in the MW in kills at 13.12 per set. UNLV also ranks fifth in the league in assists at 12.02 per frame. UNLV is one of the strongest defensive teams in the nation leading the MW and ranking second in the nation at 3.19 blocks per frame. The Rebels rank fourth in the conference in digs at 14.75 per stanza. The Rebel offense is paced by senior Katlin Winters, as she is sixth in the MW in hitting percentage at .350 (148-24-354). Sophomore Alyssa Wing leads UNLV in kills at 2.68 per set ranking 18th in the MW. Sophomore Bree Hammel leads the MW and ranks fifth in the nation in blocks at 1.55 per frame. Senior Allison Davies leads the Rebels and the MW in digs at 4.42 per set.

About San Diego State: The Aztecs head into the weekend with a 10-10 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the MW. The Aztecs swept UC Irvine on Monday. Last Week, the Aztecs split, falling to UNLV in three sets and downing Fresno State in four sets. SDSU is ninth in the MW in hitting percentage at .172 (901-459-2570). The Aztecs rank sixth in the league in kills at 12.51 per set. Defensively, SDSU leads the MW in digs at 15.15 per set. San Diego State ranks sixth in the MW in blocks at 2.19 per frame. The Aztec offense is paced junior Halle Aiken, as she averages 2.75 kills per frame ranking 15th in the MW. Defensively, Alexa Saba leads a balanced defensive attack averaging 3.11 digs per frame. Cassie O'Hara leads SDSU in blocks averaging 1.05.
