Wyoming Volleyball Set For Rematch With Colorado State On Friday Night

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team will host their second match of the week as they welcome the Colorado State Rams, on Friday, Nov. 2. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. Live stats and video of the match can be followed on www.gowyo.com.

The Cowgirls enter the week with a 17-9 (.654) record overall and a 4-6 (.400) mark in the Mountain West after a four-set victory over Regis on Tuesday night. Wyoming is currently led by Jodi Purdy who is averaging a team high 3.41 kills and 4.19 points plus 2.62 digs per set. She ranks second in points, fifth in aces and kills, while she is second in points, fifth in kills and ninth in blocks in league matches. Sophomore Erin Kirby is averaging a team and league high 1.66 blocks per set while hitting .303 (147-46-333). Reese Plante follows with a team high .312 (176-47-413) hitting percentage and 1.21 blocks, while Becky Stewart is leading the way with 4.76 digs per set. As a team, they are averaging 12.33 kills, 14.38 digs and 3.21 blocks per set. They are ranked second nationally in blocks, while Kirby is sixth and Plante is 64th.

Colorado State enters this week's match with a 14-7 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the Mountain West. They are tied for second in league action and have won their last four of five matches. Last time out, the Rams defeated Nevada, 3-0, on Oct. 27. Senior Dana Cranston leads the way for the Rams with a team high 3.39 kills, along with 2.05 digs and almost one block per set. Megan Plourde follows closely with 2.84 kills and a team leading 1.60 blocks, while hitting .349 (219-59-459). Setter Deedra Foss averages a team high 10.49 assists per set which ranks third in overall matches and is third in the league as well with 10.80 assists. Libero Izzy Gailia leads the way in digs with 4.23 per set overall and 4.49 in league matches.

This will be the 74th meeting between the Cowgirls and the Rams and the second time this season. CSU leads the all-time series, 54-19, with UW. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 5, 2012, as the Rams defeated the Cowgirls 3-0 in Ft. Collins. Colorado State is coached by Tom Hilbert who is in his 16th year with the program.
