Wyoming Volleyball to Play SDSU and Air Force at Home

    The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team will return to conference play as they host two matches to close the week. They will face the San Diego State Aztecs, on Thursday, Nov. 5, and the Air Force Academy Falcons, on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Thursday match is set to begin at 7 p.m. while the Saturday match is slated for 7:30 p.m.

    Wyoming enters the week with an 11-15 record overall and 1-10 in the Mountain West Conference. The Cowgirls are currently led by freshman outside hitter Jodi Purdy who is averaging 3.45 kills and 2.56 digs per set. She is followed by Lauren Whitney and Dani Bedore. Whitney is averaging 2.49 kills, while Bedore is adding 1.99 kills and 2.01 digs per set. As a team, the Cowgirls are averaging 12.04 kills and 13.28 digs per set.

    The Aztecs are currently 10-12 overall and 4-7 in the MWC. They are led by Lauren Salisbury with 2.56 kills per set and Andrea Hannasch with 2.33 kills and 1.05 blocks per set. San Diego State returns four starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 9-17 overall and 6-10 in the MWC a year ago. This is 38th meeting between the two teams. SDSU leads the series 28-9. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 10, 2009 as Aztecs defeated the Cowgirls 3-2 in San Diego. San Diego State is coached by Deitre Collins-Parker who is in her first season with the program.

    The Falcons are currently 8-16 overall, 0-11 in the MWC and will play the Colorado State Rams before facing the Cowgirls. They are led by Caroline Kurtz with 3.10 kills and 2.52 digs per set. Air Force returns three starters and 12 letterwinners to a team that went 5-24 overall and 0-16 in the MWC a year ago. This is 30th meeting between the two teams. Wyoming leads the series 24-5. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 8, 2009 as the Cowgirls defeated the Falcons 3-0 in Colorado Springs. Air Force is coached by Penny Lucas-White who is in her 14th season with the program.
