New Mexico vs. Wyoming: Gametracker
The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team will close out the Mountain West regular conference season on the road this week. They will take on the New Mexico Lobos, on Thursday, Nov. 10, in Albuquerque, and the TCU Horned Frogs, on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Ft. Worth. Thursday night's match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be featured on The Mtn. Sports Network, while the TCU match is slated for 12:00 p.m. MT. The Cowgirls enter the week with a 18-10 (.643) record overall and a 7-5 (.583) mark in the Mountain West after suffering a three set loss to the 24th ranked Colorado State Rams last time out. Wyoming is currently led by Jodi Purdy who is averaging a team high 3.47 kills and 4.14 points plus 3.16 digs per set. She ranks third in points, fourth in kills, fifth in service aces and ninth in digs in the league. She is followed by redshirt freshman Erin Kirby who is adding 1.81 kills and 1.18 blocks, along with hitting .325 (186-52-412). Reese Plante is averaging 2.04 kills and 1.14 blocks, while Becky Stewart is leading the way with 3.67 digs per set. As a team, they are averaging 12.69 kills, 13.94 digs and 2.54 blocks per set.
Wyoming will play their final two conference matches on the road beginning with the New Mexico Lobos. The Lobos are 14-11 overall and 6-6 in the MW. They are led by Ashley Rhoades with 3.90 kills and almost one block per set. UNM returns three starters and ten letterwinners in the Mountain West a year ago.
This is 66th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 35-30. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 15, 2011 as the Cowgirls defeated the Lobos, 3-0, in Laramie. UNM is coached by Jeff Nelson who is in his fifth season.
The Cowgirls will close out the weekend against the TCU Frogs. The Frogs are currently 21-5 overall and 8-4 in the MW. They are led by Kristen Hester who is averaging 3.43 kills and almost one dig per set. TCU returns four starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 15-16 overall and 5-11 in the Mountain West a year ago.
This is 18th meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 10-8. The last time the two teams met was October 13 as the Frogs defeated the Cowgirls, 3-2, in Laramie. The Frogs are coached by Prentice Lewis who is in her tenth season.
