Wyoming Volleyball's Lauren Whitney Earns Player of the Week Honors

Wyoming outside hitter Lauren Whitney has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking the first league weekly honor for her career. Whitney is the second Cowgirl to earn MWC Player of the Week honors in 2010.

Whitney, a 5-10 senior from Coto de Caza, Calif., led the Cowgirls to wins over Air Force (3-0) and UNLV (3-1) last week, moving Wyoming into fourth place in the league standings at 6-5. Whitney recorded double-doubles in both matches with 10 kills and 18 digs against Air Force and 17 kills and 12 digs against UNLV, leading the team in both categories in each match. The 18 digs against Air Force was a season-high for Whitney.

For the week, Whitney averaged 3.86 kills, 4.29 digs and 4.07 points per set, while hitting .258 (27-10-6) over seven sets. She also had one assist, one service ace and three blocks.
