The Wyoming volleyball team will play their final regular season matches on the road this weekend in Utah. They will face the Utah Utes, on Friday night, and the BYU Cougars, on Saturday night. Both matches are set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Wyoming comes into this week's matches with a 13-11 overall mark and a 6-6 record in the conference. Freshman Rachel Smith has been one of the top players for the Cowgirls averaging 3.36 kills and 2.19 digs per game. As a team, they are averaging 15.56 kills and 13.10 digs per game, while out hitting their opponents .266 to .236.
The Cougars enter the week with a record of 16-9 overall and 8-4 in the MWC. BYU is led by Kim Wilson who is averaging 3.26 kills, along with 1.85 digs. As a team, they are hitting .279 (1492-535-3434) and averaging 3.26 blocks per game.
This will be the 55th meeting between the two schools as the Cougars lead the series 50-4. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 15, 2004 in Laramie when Wyoming defeated the Cougars, 3-1.
The Utes are 20-3 overall and 12-0 in the MWC entering this week's match and will face Colorado State on Friday night. They also rank 17th in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. Utah is currently hitting .246 (1295-509-3191) per match and averaging 3.28 blocks per game. They are led by Lyndsey Henderson, who is averaging 3.75 kills and 1.73 blocks per game.
This will be the 55th meeting between the two schools as Utah leads the series 31-23. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 16, 2004 with the Utes coming out on top with a 3-1 victory in Laramie.
