For the first time in her career, Andrea Seele, a senior on the University of Wyoming Women's Volleyball Team, was selected on Thursday to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Third Team. Seele, who has earned a 3.86 cumulative grade-point average in accounting, was one of eight individuals to earn Third Team honors.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is a part of the Academic All-America program. Student-athletes are selected in voting by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). CoSIDA District VII is made up of the states of Wyoming, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, must be at least a sophomore and must have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's games.
Seele is a three-time Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete selection during her career. She has started in 12 matches and 44 games this season and for her career 90 matches and 282 games. She is averaging 2.43 kills and 1.05 blocks, while for her career has averaged 2.12 kills and has 170 total blocks. As a freshman, she recorded a career high 22 kills and 46 attempts against New Mexico. Earlier this season she finished with a career high nine total blocks against BYU. The Cowgirls are currently 11-12 overall and 5-7 in the Mountain West Conference.
