Cowgirl Volleyball Plays Final Regular Season Matches

The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team will wrap up regular season play with two home matches. They will host the BYU Cougars, on Wednesday, Nov. 24, and the Utah Utes, on Friday, Nov. 26. Both matches are set for 7:00 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex. The four Cowgirl seniors will also be honored at Wednesday's match against BYU. Wyoming enters the week with a 22-8 (.733) record overall and 7-7 in the MWC after a straight set loss against the Colorado State Rams last week. The Cowgirls are currently led by sophomore Jodi Purdy who is averaging 3.29, which is sixth in the league, 2.64 digs and 4.02 points per set. She is followed by Lauren Whitney who is adding 2.56 kills and 2.27 digs. JennaRae Jester is averaging a team high 1.35 blocks, while Jadranka Tramosljanin in adding 4.10 digs per set. As a team, they are averaging 13.26 kills, 13.91 digs and 2.58 blocks per set.

The Cougars are currently 13-15 overall and 8-6 in the MWC this season. They are led by Stephanie Snow who is averaging 2.61 kills and 0.75 blocks per set. She is followed by Jennifer Hamson who is adding 2.76 kills and 0.86 digs per set. They return five starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 15-14 overall and 9-7 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago.

This is 67th meeting between the two schools. BYU leads the series 61-5. The last time the two teams met was September 25, 2010 as the Cowgirls defeated the Cougars, 3-1, in Provo. BYU is coached by Shay Goulding who is in her third season with the program.

Utah is currently 15-14 overall, 9-5 in the MWC and will play the CSU Rams before taking on the Cowgirls. They are led by Morgan Odale who is averaging 3.28 kills and 2.21 digs per set. She is followed by Karolina Bartkowiak with 2.99 kills and 2.50 digs per set. Utah returns four starters and ten letterwinners on a team that went 17-12 overall and 10-6 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago.

This is the 68th meeting between the two schools. Utah leads the series 43-24. The last time the two teams met was September 23, 2010 as the Utes defeated the Cowgirls 3-1 in Salt Lake City. The Utes are coached by Beth Launiere who is in her 21st season with the program.
