Trey Dorfner earned a spot on the 2017 Seattle Times' Chips List of the top 100 players in the state. He was ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 37 best overall recruit from the state of Washington in the 2017 recruiting class. Dorfner was also honored as a First Team 2016 All-Area Football selection by The Olympian of Olympia, Wash., and was named Second Team All-Area by The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash. Dorfner rushed for 1,376 yards on 167 carries and scored 25 rushing touchdowns his senior season. He had six 100-yard rushing games, including games of: 141 yards, 274, 177, 169, 165 and 158. Dorfner added 13 receptions for 148 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He scored his two receiving TDs in the same game versus Eatonville. Dorfner caught three passes for 121 yards and two TDs against Eatonville. He ended his senior season with 1,729 all-purpose yards, including 1,376 rushing, 148 receiving, 56 yards on kickoff returns, 74 on punt returns and 75 yards on an interception return. Dorfner added 23 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. He helped lead River Ridge High to a 9-2 record and a 3-0 conference mark to win the South Puget Sound 2A League. River Ridge advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2016 Washington Class 2A Playoffs. He played for head coach Steve Schultz.
