Wallen Leads UW on Day One at Paintbrush Invite

PARKER, Colo. – Senior Ryan Wallen led the Wyoming men’s golf team with a solid effort on the first day of competition at the University of Denver’s inaugural Paintbrush Invitational, which was suspended due to darkness late in Monday’s second round. The Cowboys are currently eighth place in the field of 15 teams, with Wallen tied for 11th in the field of 88 golfers at 2-under par. Each Cowboy will complete the final two holes of the second round on Tuesday morning then proceed to the 18-hole final round.

“It’s a nice event and we’re playing hard,” head coach Joe Jensen said Monday evening. “We’re charging, and we’ll come out and finish round two tomorrow.”

Wallen carded a 69 (-3) on the first 18 at the Colorado Golf Club, tying for the third-best score in the first round. Glenn Workman followed up his solid performance at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite with a first-round 71 (-1) on Monday.
