LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 25, 2016) – For only the second time this season, the Wyoming women’s basketball team will head out on the road for a Sunday match-up with the Drake Bulldogs. The Cowgirls enter weekend with a 4-1 record after a 79-40 victory over Adams State on Tuesday night. Juniors Liv Roberts and Natalie Baker led the Cowgirls with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Redshirt sophomore Bailee Cotton finished with a team-high nine rebounds plus nine points while Rachelle Tucker added nine points and a career-high eight rebounds. The Cowgirls shot 24-of-55 (.436) from the field and 25-of-30 (.833) from the free throw line. UW out rebounded the Grizzlies, 45-25, and had 16 assists on 24 baskets.
UW is shooting 116-of-288 (.403) from the field and 38-of-113 (.336) from beyond the arc. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 64.8-45.6 and out rebounding teams 40.4-29.8.
Drake is currently 1-2 overall with all three of its games being played on the road. Four of five starters are averaging double-figures led by senior Lizzy Wendell who is averaging 24.3 points and 7.3 boards. Senior Caitlin Ingle is adding 16.3 points followed by sophomore Sammie Bachrodt with 12.3 per contest. Sophomore Sara Rhine leads the way with 8.3 boards along with 12.0 points. As a squad, the Bulldogs are shooting 86-194 (.467 from the field and averaging 81.0 points per contest. This is the first ever between the two schools. Drake is coached by Jennie Baranczyk who is in her fifth season with the program.
