Wyoming to Host MW Championship Game vs. San Diego State

Wyoming Athletics, the University of Wyoming, and the state of Wyoming are proud to host the 2016 Mountain West Conference Football Championship on Saturday, Dec. 3 in Laramie, Wyo.  The first-ever postseason game in War Memorial Stadium will feature the Cowboys and the San Diego State Aztecs.  Kickoff is set for 5:45 p.m., M.T.  Gates to War Memorial Stadium will open at 3:30 pm.

Tickets will go on sale today (Sunday, Nov. 27) at Noon online at GoWyo.com/tickets, in person at the WYO Athletics Ticket Office (open Noon-6 p.m. today) or by calling 307-766-7220.  Fans are strongly encouraged to buy online or in person to avoid long waits by phone.  Fans who purchase online are also encouraged to print their tickets at home to avoid long lines at the will call windows on Saturday.

Season-ticket holders may claim their regular-season seats starting today at Noon, through Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.  To do so, season-ticket holders should log in to their account at GoWyo.com/tickets (once logged in, click the “Postseason Applications” button).  Season-ticket holders may also stop by the ticket office or call, but are encouraged to buy online to avoid long lines and waiting on the phone.  Any unclaimed tickets held for season-ticket holders will be made available to the public on Wednesday morning.

Tickets are available at prices ranging from $21 to $38 for adults, while youth tickets may be purchased for only $17.  Wildcatter Suites & Club ticket holders have already been contacted by the Cowboy Joe Club regarding ticket opportunities.

Traditionally, UW students have paid for postseason tickets for events held in Laramie.  However, in appreciation for UW students’ great support during the season, and in consultation with the Mountain West Conference, Wyoming Athletics will be providing admission at no charge to all full-time (athletic) fee-paying University of Wyoming students.  UW students can enter the game on Saturday the same way they would any regular-season event, by using the WYO Wild Bunch app on their mobile phone.  Students who have not paid an athletic student fee this semester (required for full-time students, optional for part-time) must purchase a ticket like any other Cowboy fan.

Since the Championship game is operated by the Mountain West Conference, all parking must be purchased, including by Cowboy Joe Club members.  Fans are highly encouraged to purchase a parking pass in advance when purchasing their tickets.  Cowboy Joe Club members will be able to purchase a parking pass in their regular-season designated lot for $15, but only if they purchase parking by Friday.  Non-Cowboy Joe Club members may purchase parking in advance on-line or through the ticket office for the Summit View and Brown Lots for $20. A limited number of parking passes will be sold at lot entrances the day of the game for $20 and are expected to sell out.

Mountain West Championship Football game-day parking will be enforced all day on Saturday December 3rd.  For access into UW Athletics lots, fans will need to purchase and display a Mountain West Championship parking pass.  Fans who plan on attending the men’s basketball game vs. Northern Iowa, but do not plan to attend the Mountain West Championship will be directed to park in designated lots.

Parking lots designated during the regular season for open container and tailgating activities, will again be designated as such for Saturday, Dec. 3.  Traditional rules apply; all lots will open at 8 a.m. and the open container permit will begin at Noon.  Fans who hold Tailgate Alley spots during the regular season or plan to drive an RV to the game, and would like to enter lots on Friday afternoon or evening, must call the Cowboy Joe Club in advance (307-766-6242).

The Pepsi Pre-Game Zone will also be running on Saturday in the Indoor Practice Facility.  The free pre-game entertainment area will open immediately following the Cowboy Basketball game vs. Northern Iowa (1 p.m. tipoff in the Arena-Auditorium).  The Pepsi Pre-Game Zone includes food & drink vendors, inflatable games, music, TVs with games from around the country, the Cowboy Joe Club tailgate and more.  For Saturday’s Cowboy Joe Club tailgate, there will be a per person charge for all CJC brown and gold card holders at $10 per adult and $5 per child.

As an added bonus, fans are encouraged to attend the Cowboy Basketball game versus Northern Iowa, on Saturday, Dec. 3 which has been moved to a 1 p.m. tipoff.  The game will feature a rematch of the 2015 NCAA Tournament first round game between the Panthers and Pokes.  The Cowboys have a 3-2 record thus far this season as do the Northern Iowa Panthers.  UNI has received votes in the national polls this season.  Tickets are available at GoWyo.com/tickets, in person at the WYO Athletics Ticket Office or by calling 307-766-7220.
