For the second year in a row, senior Veronica Popovici was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Seven First Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Popovici was among 11 student-athletes selected the District VII At-Large teams.

Popovici, a native of Piatra Neamt, Romania, just completed her senior year with the Cowgirl tennis team. She has a 4.0 grade point average in family and consumer sciences. She is a three-time Academic All-MW and MW Scholar-Athlete honoree. Popovici just recently earned her fourth consecutive First Team All-Mountain award in singles after going 20-11 overall during the 2013-14 campaign. She was also selected All-Mountain West for the third straight year with doubles partner Dorottya Jonas.

To earn Academic All-District At-Large honors a student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.30 GPA, be a sophomore athletically, have completed in 50 percent of his/her team's competitions and completed a full calendar year at their respective institution. Earning Academic All-District honors moves the student-athlete to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. CoSIDA District 7 comprises features schools from nine states including Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
