Freshman: (2012-13): Carter had an impressive freshman season for the Cowboys in 2012-13. He helped the Cowboys set a school record in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 2:56.76 at the 2013 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, as the Cowboys finished third in the event. Carter also helped the 400 freestyle relay team to trio of top-three finishes including a first-place finish against Air Force, Seattle and North Dakota. He recorded a personal-best time of 45.20 in the 100 freestyle at the MPSF Championships, as he finished 11th . Carter swam a career-best time of 20.75 in the 50 freestyle at the Houston Invitational. He recorded a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle at the Air Force Academy Invite.
High School:Carter joins the Cowboys as a sprint freestyle swimmer from Chatfield Senior High School in Littleton, Colo. He was a four-time letterwinner in swimming and lettered one season in cross country. During this sophomore, junior and senior season he was named his swim team's captain. He also earned All-Conference honors those three seasons. While swimming in high school and club, Carter earned Junior and Senior National qualifying times. He also excelled in the classroom earning honor roll all four years of high school.
Personal: Carter was born on June 23, 1994 in Littleton, Colo. He is the son of Gerard and Connie and has one younger sister, Abby. He was also recruited by the Air Force and Naval Academies, as well as, Texas A&M. Carter is majoring in philosophy at Wyoming.
