Junior: (2010-11)- Hewson was a key member of three relay teams that placed in the top four at the Mountain West Championships. She and her teammates in the 200 medley relay set a MW Championship and school-record time of 1:39.62 on their way to a MW Championship. She also helped the 200 freestyle relay team to a third-place finish at the conference championships. In the 400 free relay she and her teammates recorded an NCAA `B' cut time on their way to a fourth-place finish. For her two top-three finishes in the 200 free and 200 medley relay teams she earned All-MW for the second consecutive season. During the regular season she swam her way into two top-two finishes in the 50 free. She took home first place in the 50 free against Mesa State and placed second against Air Force. In the 200 backstroke during the regular season she placed second against Utah. She earned her third Cowgirl letter award.
Sophomore: (2009-10)- Hewson became a very important key for the Wyoming swim team helping record two MW relay championships and placed in the top 15 at the MW in all of her individual events. Hewson, a member of the MW champion 200 and 400 freestyle teams, helped set two school records and an MW record in the 200 free relay. She also recorded two top-10 finishes in individual events placing seventh in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 backstroke.
Freshman: (2008-09)-An injury forced Hewson to sit out most of her freshman season. Before the injury, Hewson competed in relays for the Cowgirls and had a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke against Denver. She also placed second against New Mexico in the 100 freestyle and third in the 100 backstroke.
High School: Hewson had a very successful high school career in Colorado that ended with earning All-America honors. She was named All-Conference and All-State her sophomore through senior years. She was a part of two state championship relay teams in 2006 and 2008. At the Colorado State Championships in 2008 she was the 4A state champion in the 100 and 50 free. With her efforts, she was named the 2008 4A conference, and state swimmer of the year. She also excelled in the classroom, being in National Honor Society her junior and senior year, and was in student council all four years.
Personal: She was born on Jan. 19, 1990 in Fort Collins, Colo. She is the daughter of Suzanne Jurgens and Sam Hewson and has a twin sister, Lauren that is also a member of the Cowgirls, and younger sister, Kate. She is majoring in business administration.
