High School: Colter is a hometown product from Laramie, joining the Cowboys after swimming four seasons at Laramie High School. He joins the Cowboys as an individual state champion his senior season in the 100-yard butterfly. He was a team captain during his senior season while earning All-State in the 100 fly and 100 backstroke. Colter earned All-Conference honors all four seasons at LHS. During his sophomore and junior seasons he helped lead his team to undefeated records and back-to-back state championships. Colter was a four-time honor roll student at LHS while also earning USA Swimming Scholastic All-America honors.

Personal: Colter was born in Boulder, Colo. on Aug. 16, 1994. He is the son of Rob and Jen. He has one younger sister, Megan. He is majoring in philosophy at UW. Colter was also recruited by Colorado College and the University of Chicago.
