The Cowboy And Cowgirls 800 Freestyle Relay Teams Both Broke School Records
Sophomore: (2012-13): O'Leary continued to be one of the key cogs for the Cowboys relay teams in his sophomore campaign. He was named Second Team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation after helping the Cowboys 200 and 800 freestyle relay teams to a pair of second-place finishes. The 200 freestyle team (1:20.09) and 800 freestyle team (6:28.62) also broke two school records in the events during the season. O'Leary recorded a personal-best time of 45.32 at the MPSF Championships, a mark that ranks 10th all-time for the Cowboys. He earned a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle at the Air Force Academy Duals. O'Leary also helped the Cowboys earn a first-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay at the Houston Invite. At the Denver Invite, He recorded two second-place finishes in the 200 and 800 freestyle relays, but also helped the Cowboys take the title in the 400 freestyle relay. On the season O'Leary finished with 14 top-five finishes on the season
Freshman: (2011-12): O'Leary came in and boosted the Cowboy freestyle squad during his true freshman season. At the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, he helped the Cowboy 800 freestyle relay team to a conference championship as well as a conference and school-record time of 6:31.62. He also swam with the 400 freestyle relay team which touched the wall in second place with a time of 2:59.02. Individually, he recorded one top-20 finish at the conference championships earning 19th place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.58. As a true freshman O'Leary earned First Team All-MPSF honors as a member of the 800 freestyle relay and second team honors with the 400 freestyle relay. He also excelled in the very deep field at the Houston Cougar Classic recording top-10 finishes in three individual events and five relay events. Individually, his best finish came in the 200 freestyle where he finished fourth with a time of 1:41.25. In the 100 free, he finished fifth with a time of 46.44, while finishing the 50 free in 10th (21.29). At the Cougar Classic, O'Leary also swam with the 200 (1:22.85) and 800 (6:49.92) freestyle relay teams that finished second. He earned his first Cowboy letter award.
High School: O'Leary continued the Alaska pipeline to Wyoming. He was a two-time Alaska State Champion in the 50 (21.05) and 100 freestyle (45.75). His senior year of high school, he was named Alaska and Region III Male Swimmer of the Year. He was also named his high school's Athlete of the Year in 2010-11. He is a Junior National qualifier in the 50 free, 100 free and the 100 butterfly. O'Leary graduated a National Honor Society member.
Personal: O'Leary is the son of Patrick and Karen O'Leary. He was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on Aug. 19, 1992. He has three sisters, Meghan, Jayna and Misha. He is majoring in geography at Wyoming.
