Junior (2013-14): Hanekamp appeared in six meets in his first season with the Cowboys. He swam a season-best 1:55.19 in the 200 butterfly against UNLV on his way to a fifth place finish. Hanekamp recorded a season-best time of 2:10.75 in the 200 breaststroke in the same meet against the Rebels, as he finished seventh. He recorded a season-best time of 52.04 in the 100 butterfly against UIC.

Indiana: Hanekamp competed at Indiana University for two seasons. During his sophomore season, he recorded a 33rd place finish in the 100 butterfly at the Ohio State Invitational. Recorded a career-best time of 1:59.21 in the 200 individual medley during his freshman season. During his freshman season, he also recorded career-best in the 100 butterfly (51.46), 200 butterfly (1:52.21) and 50 freestyle (22.34) at the Georgia Invitational.

High School: Hanekamp was a five-time state champion at Laramie High School. He was named the Wyoming High School State Meet Swimmer of the Meet. Hanekamp made history by becoming the first swimmer in state history to break 50 seconds in the 100 butterfly. He was named All-American in the 100 butterfly. He helped Laramie High School to three state championships.

Personal: Hanekamp was born in Laramie, Wyo. His birthday is on Feb. 19, 1993. He is the son of Pam Langer and Theo Hanekamp and has one sister Heidi. He plans on majoring in kinesiology and nutrition.
