March 15, 2012
AUBURN, Ala. -
Senior Cowgirl swimmer Kelsey Conci began racing at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, in Auburn, Ala. Conci began competition with the 50-yard freestyle tying for 31st with a time of 22.61.
"Kelsey did her best today," Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson said. "This is a very fast event and her time just was not fast enough to get her back to the finals tonight. We are ready to go out and make some noise in the 100 back tomorrow."
Conci finished the morning's preliminaries with a time of 22.61 tying her for 31st place which was not high enough to earn her a spot in the evening's finals. She will continue racing at the NCAA Championships in the 100 backstroke on Friday. She has the 11th fastest 100 backstroke time in the nation and will be looking to defend her Honorable Mention All-America honors from a season ago.
Friday's preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. MT, with the finals beginning at 6 p.m. MT.
