With the dual win, the 25th ranked Cowboys improve to 3-0 in dual action on the season. The Cowboys won all 14 events on the day, with a different Cowboy winning each event. The Cowboys started the dual with an impressive win in the 400 medley relay when freshman Carl Marais, senior Scott Usher, junior Gene Birks and senior Grant Kritzinger swam to a time of 3:25.44.

Also swimming top times in their respective races but doing so as an exhibition were Marais in the 200 freestyle (1:43.36), junior Ethan Maclean in the 100 backstroke (53.83), Birks in the 200 butterfly (1:52.24), Kritzinger in the 50 freestyle (22.40), senior Bryce Perica in the 100 freestyle (48.75), freshman Will McCallum in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.77), sophomore Ron Fogel in the 100 butterfly (50.81) and sophomore Dan Jones in the 200 IM (2:05.49).

The 400 freestyle relay team of Marais, Birks, Kritzinger and Perica closed out the dual by swimming the fastest time of 3:10.94 but doing so as an exhibition.

"The guys had some really good events and there were some events we need to improve on," said UW head coach Tom Johnson. "I thought both of our relays were good, Gene (Birks) swam an awesome 200 fly, Sam (King) swam a nice 200 back and Ron (Fogel) swam really well in the 100 fly.

"This was a good dual to keep us swimming competitively before we head to Vegas in two weeks. That will be a big time meet and we need to be ready for it."

The Cowboys return to action as they join the women to travel to the UNLV Winter Invite in two weeks. The invite will run from Sat., Dec. 18 through Mon., Dec. 20.
