Cowgirls Place 11 Individuals on All-MW Team for Second-Consecutive Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

The University of Wyoming women's swimming and diving team placed 11 individuals and one relay team squad on the All-Mountain West swimming and diving team announced by the conference on Tuesday. The Cowgirls 11 individuals and one relay team was the second most of the 10 MW teams. The 11 honorees tied for the second most in school history with last season's 11 honorees. All-conference awards are given to the top eight individuals in an event and top three of relay races.

Of the 11 cowgirls garnering the honor, four earned multiple awards. Seniors Morgan Hartigan and Amanda Fay highlighted the award winners. Hartigan was a part of the relay team and also earned individual honors in the 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. Fay earned the honors in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards and the platform dive. She is the first Cowgirl to receive All-MW honors in all three events since Stephanie Ortiz did it in 2010.

Junior Jordan Denny also earned honors in three events. She earned the honors in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 200 backstroke. Sophomore Molly Coonce earned All-MW in two events. She placed in the top-eight in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

Earning one individual award was junior Claudia Carlson, sophomore Kari Campbell, sophomore Nicole Hlavacek, senior Halie Lacey, sophomore Emily Ridout, senior Leah Roesler and freshman Abby Sullivan. Carlson earned All-MW for the second-straight season in the 200 breaststroke, she has been named All-MW in three-straight seasons. Halvacek, Lacey and Roesler were also named All-MW for the second-consecutive season. Campbell earned her All-Conference honor after placing third and setting a school record in the platform diving event.


 

 

The 400 medley relay team of Hartigan, Stephanie Young, Coonce and Denny was the only Wyoming relay team to be honored. The group finished third with the third-fastest time in school history at 3:38.97.

Leah Roesler: 200 butterfly

Abby Sullivan: 200 backstroke
