Cowboy Swimmers And Divers Honored Academically By The MPSF

For the second-consecutive year, six members of the University of Wyoming men's swimming and diving were honored for their academic achievements by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
The Pokes six honorees were announced early in the week and were led by senior Trevor LeValley who carries a 3.87 grade point average. He earned his second-consecutive Academic All-MPSF award and his fourth-consecutive academic all-conference award. Junior Ethan Griffel (3.45 GPA) also earned his second Academic All-MPSF award and his third academic all-conference honor. Earning their first career Academic All-MPSF awards were juniors Jayce Calhoon (3.38) and Derek Campbell (3.20) as well as sophomores Ryan O'Leary (3.09) and Jordan Turner (3.07). It was also the first career academic all-conference award for each of those four Cowboys.
"I am happy with the number of guys we have on the academic all-conference team," UW head coach Tom Johnson said. "For Trevor to be four-time academic all-conference is outstanding. His commitment to his academics is stellar especially as an engineering major. I am happy that academics and athletics is equally important to our guys and I am proud of their hard work."
Wyoming's six honorees were the fifth most in the conference and they carried a 3.34 average GPA between the six of them.
To earn academic all-conference honors a student-athlete had to meet four criteria including: a 3.00 or better GPA, at least a sophomore academically, completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award was received and competed in 50 percent or more of the intuitions competitions.
