Wyoming Hires New Diving Coach

University of Wyoming head swimming and diving coach Tom Johnson announced Monday the addition of Ben Herdt to the UW Swimming and Diving coaching staff.
Herdt, a native of East Lansing, Mich., comes to Wyoming after coaching the Twin City Diving Club in Minneapolis, Minn., in 2000 and 2004. He had a successful diving career at the University of Minnesota and helped lead the Gophers to three Big Ten Conference championships. Herdt earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as well as being named a Big Ten Scholar Athlete, and was a team co-captain his senior season.
Herdt graduated from Minnesota in May of 2004 with a degree in Spanish studies. He will oversee all aspects of the Cowboy and Cowgirl diving teams.
"Ben is an outstanding addition to our staff," said Johnson. "He is enthusiastic, bright, hard working and creative. He has been coached by some of the best diving coaches in the country. We look forward to having him on our staff."
Herdt will officially begin his duties with UW on Monday, August 16th.
