Cowgirl Swimming And Diving Returns To The Pool Against New Mexico
Oct. 27, 2011
The Wyoming Cowgirl swimming and diving team will return to the pool when they travel to Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday, Oct. 29 for their first conference road trip of the 2011-12 season.
"They (New Mexico) are an improved team and I think that it will be interesting for our first conference meet to be our first true road meet," Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson said. "They have shown some improvement this season. I was pretty impressed with some of the times they put up against Air Force earlier this season. We are looking forward to a pretty good meet with them. They don't have a ton of depth so I am not sure they will be able to hang with us, but I think it will be a good meet."
A season ago the Cowgirls defeated the Lobos 133.5-104.5 and won 12 of 13 events. Returning Cowgirl event winners from a season ago include Kenzie Hewson, Morgan Hartigan, Shelby Bull and Kelsey Conci. Hewson won both the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke events and is UW's only returning multiple event winner from last season's meet. Other returning event winners from a season ago are; Hartigan who grabbed a win for UW in the 200 individual medley, Bull touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly and Conci won the 100 free.
The Cowgirls will travel to Albuquerque on Saturday to take on the Lobos beginning at 10 a.m. MT.
