Swimmers And Divers Return To The Pool Against Air Force
Nov. 8, 2012
LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Swimming and Diving teams will return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 10, with a trip to the Air Force Academy to take on the Falcons beginning at 1 p.m. Both teams won their last meetings against Air Force. The Cowboys defeated the Falcons 173-127 on Jan. 20, 2012, while the Cowgirls took down the Falcons 171.5-122.5 on Nov. 11.
"It is always fun to swim the Air Force Academy because their coach is a Wyoming alumni that I swam with," Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson said. "On the men's side, we have been battling for the helmet since before I got here and the last six times it has stayed in Laramie. For the women coming off a great CSU meet this gives us a chance to get one more rip before we go face some stiff competition in Huston next week. Air Force has improved greatly on both sides and it should be an entertaining meet."
The Cowboys return six individual event winners and one relay victory from the last meeting with the Falcons. Individually, Trevor LeValley won the 200 butterfly (1:55.14), Jeff Frey won the 50 freestyle (20.72), Dalton Haas took first on the 1-meter springboard (286.95), Adam Kalms touched the wall first in the 100 free (45.84) and Nick Rutecki finished the 100 fly in first with a time of 52.12. The Cowboys also return all four members of the first-place 400 freestyle team (3:03.60) in Kalms, Frey, Ryan O'Leary and Ethan Griffel.
The Cowgirls also return six individual event winners from last season's meeting. Individually, Kasey Robinson took first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:51.11. Jessy Badaracco finished first in the 200 butterfly (2:10.65) and the 500 free (5:14.96), Morgan Hartigan touched the wall first in the 50 free (23.85), Amanda Fay finished first on the 1-meter springboard with a mark of 258.83, while Jordan Denny took first in the 200 backstroke (2:06.70).
