Cowboys and Cowgirls cap off busy weekend

2011... Burke joined the UW men's cross country program halfway through the season and was a key contributor to the Cowboys' success. Burke was the first Wyoming runner across the line at the NCAA Mountain Region championships, finishing 19th to garner All-Mountain Region honors. He'll contribute in distance events for the UW track team.

High School... Burke was a four-year letter winner in track and cross country for Campbell County High School. He was a four-time state champion, winning the cross country title in 2006 and the 4-by-800-meter relay, and the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs at the state track meet. He was an All-State selection in cross country from 2003-06 and 2005-06 in track. He was the senior class salutatorian.

Personal... Burke was born July 24 in Gillette, Wyo., to Bill and Susan Burke. He has one sibling, Carrie. In high school, he considered offers from Arizona State, Colorado State and Arkansas.
