Gunderson had a great season with seven top-10 finishes. He was first in the 55-meter dash at the Shine Invite. The junior recorded two personal bests, with one of them coming at the MW Championships in the 60-meter dash. He was part of a 4-by-100-meter relay that finished first in two meets. Gunderson also recorded a personal record in the 100-meter dash at the Front Range Championships. He ran the 100 at the MWC Championships and finished sixth to wrap up the season. Gunderson earned Academic All-Conference and Scholar-Athlete honors for his work in the classroom. 2009-10... Gunderson's value to the Cowboys showed in both his speed in the sprints and his experience. Gunderson was a solid sprinter for Wyoming in four events and he showed progress in each of them, setting personal records in the 55- and 60-meter dashes. 2008-09... As a member of the team during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, Gunderson competed in the 60-, 100- and 200-meter dashes. His best race came in the 60-meter dash at the Air Force Invitational, when he ran a 7.09-second race during the preliminary race. Academically, he was named to the Academic All-MWC team, as well as earning the Scholar Athlete award for the Pokes. High School... Gunderson competed in four sports while in high school, including soccer, football, basketball and track and field. Throughout his track career, he was a three-time team MVP, a conference and county champion, a two-time state qualifier and a school-record holder in four events. Academically, Gunderson was on the honor roll all four years of high school, and was in the National Honor Society for three years. He graduated in the top 10 in his class and was a two-time state qualifier as a part of the math team. Personal... Gunderson was born in Rockford, Ill. He is the son of Sheila and Mark Gunderson and enjoys playing the guitar and saxophone, fishing and spending time with his friends. He is currently majoring in engineering here at UW.
