Junior one of 16 shot put competitors at national indoor finals
2012-13 Indoor: Competed at the NCAA Championships in the shot put but did not place ... earned the nation's second-best mark in the shot put during the year with a 65'-9.75" thrown at the Air Force Invite, breaking UW's all-time best mark for the event held since 2000 and garnering MW Male Athlete of the Week honors ... at the MW Championships, placed first in the shot put (65'-1.50") and second in the weight throw (60'-5.75") to achieve MW Male Most Outstanding Performer honors ... named the USTFCCCA Mountain Regional Field Athlete of the Year for his accomplishments ... placed second (65'-1.50") in the shot put at the Don Kirby Elite Invite ... took second in the weight throw at the AF Invite at 61'-0.75" (team-best for season).
UW transfer Mason Finley joins the Cowboy squad after three years as a Kansas Jayhawk. He is a four-time NCAA runner-up in the shot put (twice) and discus throw (twice). He is an eight-time NCAA All-American and a four-time Big 12 champion in the shot put and discus throw. During his high school career, Mason broke the national high school record in the discus throw with a mark of 236'-6" and also threw the shot put a Colorado high school record of 71'-8.50" in 2009. Mason will compete indoors during the 2013 season for the Cowboys, but redshirt the outdoor season to have a complete indoor/outdoor season of eligibility in 2014 for the Pokes.
