LARAMIE, Wyo. -

Wyoming Senior Dan Williams and sophomore Jessica Fox have been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Williams, a senior from Laramie, Wyo., took first place in the shot put with a throw of 52' 8 1/4" at the Kansas State Invitational in Manhattan, Kan. on Jan. 17th. Williams also took second place in the weight throw at the meet with a mark of 61' 6 1/4". The Laramie native was an All-Mountain West performer last season along with being selected to the Academic All-Conference team. Williams serves as one of the Cowboy team captains this year as well.

Fox, a sophomore from Burns, Wyo., earned Athlete of the Week honors for her 53.97 time in the 400 meter dash on Jan. 11th at the Air Force All Comers meet which earned her a first place finish. The time provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Championships and is the third best 400 meter time in Mountain West Conference history. Fox's 400 meter time is currently the second best in the country.

"We are very pleased about these two athletes receiving Athlete of the Week honors," said Wyoming head track and field coach Don Yentes. "The good thing is both of these athletes are far from reaching full stride, which means things can only get better."

Other notables: Andrea Batt, junior Huson, Mont., currently ranks 4th in the nation in the shot put with her throw of 50' 4" at the Kansas State Invite on Jan. 17th.
