Border War Dual Highlights

Wyoming's Shreese Daniels and Mason Finley have been named the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Female and Male Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. This is the sixth time in MW history Wyoming has swept the indoor weekly honors and first since Jake Shanklin and Shannon Pop claimed the honors on Feb. 7, 2007.

Daniels earns the weekly accolade for the first time in her career after her performance at last Saturday's Border War Dual with Colorado State in Gillette, Wyo. She won the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 65-7 1/2 to break her previous mark by more than one foot. Her toss ranked second all-time in UW indoor history, while currently leading the conference and ranking 14th in the NCAA. She also placed second in the shot put with a toss of 46-10.

Finley was just as impressive for the third weekly accolade of his career. He was the only Cowboy to win two events at the Border War Dual. He threw a personal-best 63-8 3/4 to take first in the weight throw and break his old record by more than two feet. The mark currently ranks first in the conference and 25th in the nation. He also won the shot put with a throw of 62-7 3/4. The Cowboys and Cowgirls have combined to win three of the four MW Athletes of the Week so far this indoor season.

Wyoming returns to action at the Air Force Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Cadet Field House in Colorado Springs, Colo.
