COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Wyoming senior Jake Shanklin has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and for the seventh time in his career.

Shanklin set a personal record on his way to earning the hammer throw title at the Front Range Invitational held in Boulder, Colo., last weekend. The 219'-11" (67.03m) regional-qualifying toss set a meet record and is the farthest throw in the league this season, while ranking eighth nationally. The Ellensburg, Wash., native's throw ranks third in Wyoming history and is fourth all-time in the MWC.
