UW Track Set To Open Indoor Season At Home
Nov. 30, 2011
The 2011-12 Wyoming track season will get under way Friday as UW hosts the Power Meet. The meet traditionally serves as the season-opening event for the indoor track season. Action begins at 6 p.m. as Wyoming welcomes Northern Colorado into the War Memorial Fieldhouse.
What it means
It's an opportunity for the Wyoming's student-athletes to begin the season on a high note. The Wyoming coaching staff will have about half of the roster available for competition for various reasons.
"The ones who will actually run, we're looking for good performances," Wyoming coach Don Yentes said. "We've been training for three months, so we're hoping that somebody does something. We're trying to get some things done, this week and next weekend down at Air Force.
"We want to try to make some steps forward. It won't be the end-all of anything, but we want to run better than we ran last year and throw better than last year. I'd say we've had a really good training season this fall. The kids have made some big strides, but they don't give too many awards for practice."
