Deininger competed in five events last year, and was a key member of a Cowboy team that finished 95-19 in dual competition last season. His best event of the year was at the Woody Greeno Invite in Lincoln, Neb., where he finished 63rd out of 295 competitors. He also performed well at the Rocky Mountain Shootout, crossing the line in 91st place out of 280 runners. Nik also contributed to the UW men's track squad, running in the 1,500-, 3,000- and 3,000-meter steeplechase events. 2009-10... Deininger's best finish of 2009 was in the Wyoming Invitational. His time of 24:04 in the 6.8K was good enough for 30th. He also finished 33rd in the MWC Championships later in the year, with a time of 26:19 in the 8K. He earned a letter for his efforts over the year. He also was the top competitor on the men's team in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, hitting the 9:46.33 mark at the Front Range Classic during the outdoor season. High School... Nik was a four-year letterman in track and field while lettering three times in cross country. He was an All-State selection during cross country three straight years while earning the honor during his sophomore year in track and field. Personal... Nik was born Aug. 13, in Casper, Wyo.
