2010... A three-time letterman, Griesbach will be one of the team's leaders this season as he finishes up his cross country career. Last season, he was a solid contributor, running in all six events. His best finish of the season came in the Woody Greeno Invite, in which he finished 64th and helped the Cowboys take the team title. He was 58th in the Rocky Mountain Shootout, and finished his season at the NCAA Mountain Region race, crossing the line in the 93rd spot. Griesbach provides valuable experience to the Cowboys, and will serve as an example to the younger harriers on the squad.
2009-10... Ryan earned his second letter as he kept up a solid pace throughout 2009, finishing 30th or better three times. His best finish was in the Wyoming Invitational, where he finished 21st with a time of 23:32. He finished 30th in the conference championships later in the year, with a time of 26:09. He also had the top time in 10,000-meter run for the Cowboys during the outdoor season, with a time of 33:18.05. He was named to his second Academic All-MWC team.
2008-09... During Ryan's first collegiate cross country season he was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year for his 41st-place finish at the MWC Championship, tops among true freshman. Griesbach earned himself a UW letter for competing in six of the seven meets the `Pokes participated in last season. His best finish of the year was at the Wyoming Invitational, where he placed 21st with a time of 23:33 in the 6.8K race. In the classroom, Ryan was awarded with Academic All-MWC honors as well as an MWC Scholar Athlete award for his 4.0 grade point average.
High School... Ryan was a three-time letter winner in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field. During Ryan's cross country career, he was All-Conference twice, as well as being selected to the All-State team twice. He was voted team captain in his senior year and placed fourth at state. During the indoor season, he was selected All-State one time and finished the 4x800-meter relay in second place as well as third in the 3,200-meter run his senior year. While competing in the outdoor season, he was a part of the 4x800-meter relay team that took third place at state his junior year. Ryan was on the honor roll and the National Honor Society all four years as well as making the Spanish Honor Society three years in a row.
Personal... Ryan was born Sept. 2 in Cheyenne, Wyo. He is the son of Randy and Lorna Griesbach. He is majoring in molecular biology and wants to work in the medical field in the future.
