COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Wyoming Cowboy senior Mark Korir was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week today for the fourth time this season and the seventh time in his cross country career.

Korir was the top performer for the Cowboys at the 2008 NCAA Pre-Nationals Invitational held in Terre Haute, Ind., last Saturday. He ran the second-best time in Wyoming history in the men's 8K blue race with a time of 23:43.2 to finish in seventh place overall. The Eldoret, Kenya, native competed against a field of 276 individuals, including harriers from No. 5 Alabama, No. 8 Northern Arizona and No. 9 Michigan. His time currently ranks first in the MWC for the 8K distance.
