After sweeping Utah last season, the Cowboys are looking to continue their winning ways against the Utes. In fact, the Pokes have won four of the last five games in the series. Last season, Wyoming beat Utah on the road by a score of 69-64 and completed the sweep with a 72-64 home win during the final regular season game of 2007-08. Utah leads the overall series with Wyoming, 89-74.
Utah is currently 8-5 on the season, after posting a home win over No. 16/17 Gonzaga on New Year's Eve. The Utes are led by senior Luke Nevill, a Second Team All-MWC performer last season, who is averaging 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds a game. The Utes are coached by Jim Boylen, who has posted a 26-20 record through his first two seasons as a head coach.
Following their MWC opener with Utah, the Cowboys will not return to action until Wednesday, Jan. 14 when they host San Diego State. That game will begin at 6 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium and will be televised live by The Mtn.
