Wyoming's Larry Nance Jr. has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The weekly accolade is the first of Nance's career and the first for a Poke this season.

Nance scored a career-high 38 points and pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds in a narrow 64-61 loss at Denver on Sunday afternoon. His 38 points were the most by a Cowboy since Jay Straight notched 41 at Colorado State on Feb. 26, 2005. Nance connected on a career-high 15-of-21 field goal attempts to set the Magness Arena record for points and field goals. His 15 made field goals tied the MW junior class single-game record, joining Colorado State's Marcus Walker against Tennessee State on Nov. 17, 2007. Nance also went a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line, including converting four and-one plays. He added two steals and one assist while playing all 40 minutes.

After posting a then career-high 25 points in UW's previous game, Nance scored 23 in the second half alone against Denver to post his third double-double of the season and a team-high eighth game in double-figure points. His 38 points were just two shy of UW's single-game top 10 list. Nance's 15.8 points per game rank 13th in the MW this season, while his 9.3 rebounds are sixth. He is shooting 57.6 percent from the field to pace the conference and adds 1.3 blocks per contest for eighth.

Wyoming continues its season by hosting SMU on Friday at 7 p.m. MT in the Arena-Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Wyoming Athletics Ticket Office at 877-WYO-FAN1 (877-996-3261) or online at GoWYO.com.
