Derrick LeBlanc Hired as a Defensive Line Coach at Wyoming

Head Coach Dave Christensen announces new coaching staff duties.

Brian Wilkinson begins his second year as Wyoming's Director of Football Operations in 2012. He joined the Wyoming Football program in March of 2011. Wilkinson came to Wyoming from the University of California-Berkeley where he was the Assistant Director of Football Operations.

Wilkinson coordinates team travel, oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of the Wyoming Football program and monitors budgetary and compliance issues relating to Cowboy Football.

Wilkinson has nine years experience working in college athletics at the University of California and Sacramento State University. Twice he served as Assistant Director of Football Operations at Cal -- first from July 2005 to March 2008 and then again from August 2010 until accepting his current position at Wyoming. In between his two tours of duty at Cal, he was the Director of Football Operations at Sacramento State from March 2008 to August 2009.

"Brian (Wilkinson) brings a great deal of experience to our staff," said head coach Dave Christensen. "He is an individual who has a lot of energy, pays attention to detail and is a great fit for our staff. With his experience, I know that he will implement the detailed planning necessary to help make our program run as smoothly as possible. We're very happy to have Brian join the University of Wyoming football program."

"I am very appreciative for the opportunity that Coach (Dave) Christensen and Mr. (Tom) Burman have given me," said Wilkinson. "I'm really excited to be part of an athletic department that has such a rich tradition as the University of Wyoming, and I'm elated to be able to work with a great coaching staff."

As the Assistant Director of Football Operations at Cal, Wilkinson was involved in organizing all aspects of team travel. He produced the daily schedules for the football program. Wilkinson also assisted in hosting recruiting weekends for potential recruits, as well as assisting with all aspects of football recruiting.

During his time at the University of California, he was involved in preparation for the Bears' appearances in the 2005 Las Vegas Bowl and 2007 Armed Forces Bowl.

Also while at Cal, Wilkinson was the Director of Softball Operations from 2005-06. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Equipment Manager for the Bears from 2003-05.

The Bears played in four bowl games during Wilkinson's time at Cal, winning three. They won the 2003 Insight Bowl, participated in the 2004 Holiday Bowl, won the 2005 Las Vegas Bowl and won the 2007 Armed Forces Bowl.

From 2008-09, Wilkinson was the Director of Football Operations at Sacramento State University. He coordinated the daily practice schedule at Sac State, coordinated all team travel, was involved in managing the football budget, supervised the equipment room, organized the football team's community relations program, assisted in football recruiting and served as the director of summer football camps.

Wilkinson served in the United States Air Force from 1991-94. After the military, he served as a minor league clubhouse manager and equipment manager for the Oakland Athletics.

He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Belford University in 2009.

Wilkinson and his wife, Tami, have two sons, Bryce and Tyler.
