High School: Riese is ranked by Rivals.com as a three-star recruit and the No. 14 overall recruit in the state of Wisconsin. He earned All-Area and All-Conference honors as a senior at D.C. Everest High School in Schofield, Wis. Riese was credited with 31 knock-down blocks, and converted a perfect 100 percent of his long snaps as a field-goal snapper. He played for head coach Luke Coenen.

Personal: Born Sept. 27, 1995, he is the oldest of two children of Becky Brown and Jay Riese. His grandfather, Tom Schulz, ran track at Western Michigan, and his uncle, Brett Schulz, played football at Mount Senario College in Wisconsin. Riese was also recruited by Illinois, Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Western Michigan and Wisconsin. He is pursuing a degree in kinesiology and health promotion at UW.
