High School: Josh Doctson earned First Team All-District 5-5A honors as a wide receiver at Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas. He caught 40 passes for 604 yards his senior season. He was voted a team captain and was selected his team's Most Valuable Player. Doctson also earned Academic All-District honors as a senior. He received a three-star rating from Rivals.com. Doctson lettered his sophomore, junior and senior years in both football and basketball.

Personal: The son of Tracy Syler-Jones, he has one older brother, Jeremiah. His mother ran track at American River College. Doctson was also recruited by Duke and Tulsa.
